The Factory Closes & Early Retirement

My husband worked at the factory for about a year after we moved. He took an early retirement before the factory closed. If he had waited he would have gotten nothing as far as any benefits or pension. One day just before he retired he looked at me and said, "See that chair right there? I'm going to sit down in it when I retire, and I'm not going to do anything!" The sad part is that his statement was true.

My husband sat in that chair all day, everyday and ordered me around like a servant. Nothing was good enough. All he did was pick at me over everything. When "Little Man" came home from school he did the same thing to him. After seeing how he was treating us, I wanted to leave more than ever now.

The crazy thing was, when people would come to visit, my husband's personality would change into this jolly happy-go-lucky man who everyone dearly loved. Then he would tell everyone that I was a crazy woman! It made me sick. I asked why he didn't show his true colors to other people like he did to "Little Man" and I? That would infuriate him! That was when I did some research and found out what a narcissist was! I also found out what gas lighting truly is.

Lesson Learned: You can't be happy when someone is constantly belittling you and picking on you.
